Fair Play Awards at the Cadet and Junior European Fencing Championships

Foggia, the beautiful city in southern Italy, hosted the 13th  Cadet and Junior European Fencing Championship on 22 February - 3 March 2019. Over 1,000 from 40 countries athletes participated. Stanislav Pozdnyakov (RUS), President of the European Fencing Confederation (EFC), expressed the Europeam Fencing Confederation’s special appreciation to the Italian Fencing Federation, to the Region of Puglia, to the city of Foggia and to the Local Organising Committee in his opening speech. He expressly underlined the importance of correct behavior and sportsmanship of the participants in the spirit of Fair Play. The European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), in cooperation with the Foggia Rotary Club "Umberto Giordano", undertook patronage of these events and announced Fair Play Awards for Cadets and Juniors. At the Fair Play Award Ceremony the European Fair Play Movement was represented by Cesare Gaudiano, Italian Fair Play Committe Delegate of Foggia. The awards were delivered to Rassolova Valerja (Russia) and Diego Calderon (Spain) for the following reasons: They have sportingly recognized that they have suffered a jab, favoring the opponent in scoring, facilitating the task of the referees.
