OLYMPIC VALUES IN ACTION – SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

The Olympic Committee of Israel advanced its educational and social mission through impactful initiatives that bring the Olympic spirit into communities across the country.

Olympic Day for Special Communities

The NOC hosted a unique event focused on strengthening mental resilience for teenagers coping with mental health challenges. Together with their families, the participants experienced sports such as fencing, judo, and wheelchair basketball alongside Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including Olympic medalist Raz Hershko and Paralympic champion Moran Samuel. The event provided inspiration, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to connect with the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

Shining Olympic Stars

Continuing a long-standing partnership with Meir Medical Center, Olympic and elite athletes volunteered at the hospital’s Sports and Wellness Center for Children and Youth. This month, windsurfing medalist Sharon Kantor and Olympic fencer Yuval Freilich brought joy and motivation to young patients through meaningful sports activities.

Remembering the Munich 11

A special educational day was held at the Munich Memorial House in Tel Aviv, honoring the legacy of the 11 members of the Israeli delegation murdered in Munich in 1972. The day opened with a ceremony led by the O ice of Bavaria in Israel, followed by an intergenerational panel with two Olympians — Yehuda Weinstein (Munich 1972) and Yuval Freilich (Paris 2024) — alongside Ilana Romano, representing the victims’ families. The program concluded with roundtable discussions with the next generation of Israeli athletes. The day emphasized remembrance, identity, and the enduring connection between sport and national values.
