The First Stop of the Fair Play Universities Caravan Was Bartın University

The first stop in 2025 for the "Fair Play Universities Caravan" project, traditionally carried out by the TMOK Fair Play Commission, was Bartın University (BARÜ). In a panel held at the Kutlubey Campus Library Conference Hall in collaboration with the BARÜ Faculty of Sport Sciences and the Sport-Friendly Campus Coordination Office, the TMOK Fair Play Commission, which set out with the slogan "To the Good, the True, the Beautiful," came together with students.

Bartın University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, who was personally invited by the commission members, delivered the opening speech of the panel, stating: "Today, we are gathered to understand the spirit of fair play. The fair play spirit is actually one that has existed in these lands for centuries. There has always been an inclination toward the good, the true, and the beautiful in Anatolian lands. If we can approach one another with tolerance amid the difficulties of life, that moment is a fair play moment. At this point, I thank everyone who contributed to making our university the first in Turkey to host this organization in the 2025–2026 academic year, where the topic of fair play is addressed in its various dimensions."

In the panel, where the presentation was made by Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Dr. Cemal Özman, TMOK Fair Play Commission President Haldun Domaç first discussed the concept of fair play in his presentation titled "What Is Fair Play?", its relationship with the fundamental ethical principles of sport, and its importance in today's sports culture.

TMOK Fair Play Commission 2nd President Prof. Dr. Selçuk Bora Çavuşoğlu spoke on "Fair Play from Past to Present," covering the historical evolution of the fair play concept, while Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülçin Güven addressed "Atatürk and Fair Play." Commission Support Group Members Dr. Cemal Güler presented on "Fair Play and Personal Development," while Dr. Başak Sönmez and Research Assistant Elif Aslan evaluated the reflections of fair play in media and visual communication with examples under the title "Visual Aspects of Fair Play." As part of the event, the "World Fair Play Photograph and Cartoon Exhibition" was also opened to visitors.

Following the Fair Play Universities Caravan panel held in Bartın, the commission members paid a courtesy visit to Bartın Governor Dr. Nurtaç Arslan and presented a plaque in appreciation of his contributions and support.
