Turkish Olympic Committee launches Fair Play Photo Contest

The Turkish Olympic Committee (TNOC), which was awarded the Willi Daume World Trophy by the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) for the promotion of Fair Play, has announced its first World Fair Play Photo Contest.

This open and free photo competition, organised in cooperation with Bornova Municipality, seeks to inspire the creation and dissemination of positive imagery on the concept of fair play to raise awareness.

The NOC’s 1st World Fair Play Photo Contest will be open for entries from 1st June to 30th November 2018.

Contest Rules


Participation in this contest is deemed as acceptance of these Contest rules:

3. Purpose and Theme of the Contest

Contest Theme: Fair – Play

The TNOC intends to inspire the creation and dissemination of positive imagery (photographs) on the concept of fair play, to raise awareness nationally and internationally.

4. Eligibility:

The contest is open to any photographer (amateur or professional).

The Selection Committee (Jury) members and their first degree relatives are not allowed to enter the Contest.
Previously published/exhibited/awarded photos cannot be submitted.
Each contestant may submit up to three (3) photographs for consideration.
Entries must be shot between 1.1.2018 – 30 November 2018.

The entries must be submitted through the e-mail address of the Contest Secretariat (info@olimpiyat.org.tr)in accordance with the competition guidelines and subject to the Contest Rules.

All the photographs must be completely the own work of the participant. Responsibility of the legal cases for any sort of copyright violation using the whole or partial images from other sources will be upon the participant.

5. Photo Submission Guidelines

Entries may have been taken from any camera; film or digital.
Entries (black & white or colour) must be saved in high resolution JPEG format image at a resolution of 300dpi and 7:12 compression ratio. The shorter side of the photo must be at least 1920 pixels and longer side at most 3200 pixels. Please limit your images to a maximum file size of 4MB. Minimum size for black & white images is 1MB (2MB for colour images).Photos should be sent without passé partout and without margin. Details related with the participant's identity such as name, signature, logo, date etc. should not be presented on the photograph.
The name of each photograph file may not exceed 31 characters.
Characters Ç, Ğ, İ, Ö, Ş, Ü, ç, ı, ğ, ö, ş and ü should not be used for naming.
All letters other than the country code and a character that defines Section must be in lower cases.

The country code of the participant must be written in the first two characters of the file name ("TR" for Turkey, and for other countries please see www.fiap.net/docs/divers/ISO-CODES-en.pdf. Then, the work owner's name must be written so as to be a maximum of 5 characters (e.g. “omery” or “oeyil” for ÖmerEril YILMAZ)
The next character must be the initial letter of the category (Color) > C, Black-White > B etc).
The seq. no. of the photograph must be written in a figure (from 1 to 4) and then the underscore (_) must be added.

Following the underscore, the name of the photograph must be written in a manner not to exceed the total number of characters. Example: “TRomeryDA1_kardeslik.jpg” will be the name for the file by participant Ömer Eril YILMAZ’s no. 1 photo with the caption “Brotherhood” for the section “Forgotten Future”.
Brand, model and reference information about the camera used must be indicated.

7. Contest Calendar

Open for entries: 1 June 2018
Closing date: 30 November 2018
Selection Committee meeting: 17 December 2018
Winners’ announcement: 19 December 2018

8. Prizes

Prize Winners determined by the Selection Committee will receive Fair Play Plate and Certificate of Participation and:

1st Prize: 4.000 TRY
2nd Prize: 2.000 TRY
3rd Prize: 1.000 TRY
5 Honourable Mention Prizes: Each 400 TRY and a Certificate of Participation.
Alongside the first 8 place photos, 50 photographs determined by the Selection Committee will be published at the TOC 1st World Fair Play Photo Contest Album.

9. Publication and Copyright

By submitting any photograph to this contest, the entrant grants TOC a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, TOC purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials, its and Bornova Municipality’s website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to TOC publications. The exhibited and awarded photos will be kept in the archives of the TOC and Bornova Municipality. By specifying the name of the photographer these photos can be used in news, advertising and social responsibility projects by the TOC and Bornova Municipality, no extra royalty will be paid. The accepted photographs can be used for exhibitions, in publications or printed documents (calendar, postcard, catalogue, web page, electronic communication or recording media, etc.) by the TOC and Bornova Municipality and will be freely available on other platforms for (non-commercial) promotional purposes. The photos that are used for this purpose the organizer do not need to get extra permission from the owner of the works; the participant cannot take the copyright back nor demand any additional royalty.
