2019 European Fair Play Diploma, made under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees and awarded to a team

The Polish climbers performed one of the most daring Himalayan rescue operations ever on Nanga Parbat in January 2018. They set aside their K2 attempt to be flown to Nanga Parbat to try to rescue Tomasz Mackiewicz and Elisabeth Revol, who were suffering serious debilitation high on Nanga Parbat under horrendous conditions. After an exhausting nighttime ascent in the winter cold with temperatures reaching -60 degrees Celsius, they found and managed to rescue Revol, who continued her descent despite severe frostbite. Unfortunately, her partner Tomasz Mackiewicz could not be saved.

On behalf of the Polish team the award was accepted by Hanna Wawrowska, Chairperson of the Polish Olympic Committee Fair Play Club
