L'ÉQUIPE RESERVE GARÇONS DU CLUB DES HERBIERS VENDËE BASKET awarded with EFPM “Spirit of Fair Play” Award 2025

The LES HERBIERS VENDÉE BASKET club has been certified as a "La Fédération Française de Basket-Ball citizen club" for 6 years and has been working for many years to prevent violence and incivility and to promote fair play. This label recognizes the commitment of clubs to social and environmental responsibility. Its departmental boys' reserve team made, during a championship match in January 2024, a rare gesture of fair play, loyal and spontaneous, respecting the rules of the game and the opponent: the players of Les Herbiers, who were leading by one point with 10 seconds left in the match, asked the referee to reverse one of his decisions and give the ball back to the opposing team, who won the match on a final basket! These fair play behaviors are very rare and all the more remarkable in these conditions at the end of a very close match.

The Award was presented on behalf of EFPM by Ph. Housiaux, President of the EFPM during a ceremony held at the Maison du Sport Français, organized by the Comité Français pour le Fair Play, chaired by its president Jean-Pierre Mougin.
