The Foundation of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSV) in cooperation with the SOSV Fair Play Club announced the winners of the Sport is a Chance grant
The Foundation of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSV), in cooperation with the SOSV Fair Play Club, annually announces the "Sport is a Chance" - grant program with the aim of supporting and helping to develop projects that emphasize the social and educational function of sport. Within the framework of the program, the SOSV Foundation distributes a total of EUR 5,000 to support projects.
This year, 5 organizations were selected to develop projects that address specific and important social issues through sport. All the winning projects took responsibility for their fellow human beings and showed how much their hearts beat for others.
The symbolic cheques were handed over by Katarína Ráczová, member of the board of the SOSV Foundation and President of the Fair Play Club, and Peter Buček, member of the board of the SOSV Fair Play Club, on 9 December, in Michalovce, to the representatives of:
Black Tiger Taekwondo Club Snina - the aim of their project is to help provide training equipment for people from socially disadvantaged families and give them a chance to cope with their surroundings through sport;
Sport with us from Košice - the aim of the project is the introduction and teaching of the basics of ice skating to children from the marginalized Roma community;
Betonári Horné Orešany - the aim of their project is to popularize amateur children's table tennis in the region by organizing table tennis tournaments. Regularly attended by children from the surrounding area and from abroad, the tournament will be held for the 12th time in 2025.
Secondary School of Technology and Services in Prakovce - the aim of the project “Physical Training without Obstacles” is to purchase sportswear for underprivileged pupils to enable them to take part in sporting activities;
Eastern Wings Michalovce Floorball Club - the aim of the project is to give young girls the opportunity to improve in this sport to develop FLOORBALL FOR GIRLS.
