Emotional Fair Play Award Ceremony in Michalovce (SVK)

On 9 December 2024, the annual Fair Play Awards were presented in a very successful and emotional ceremony organised by the City of Michalovce and the Olympic Club Michalovce on behalf of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSC) and its Fair Play Club.

The city is known for its vibrant sporting life, and there's also a strong commitment to supporting youth sport. The ceremony was co-organised by the Olympic Club Michalovce. The club has already won the award for the best Olympic Club in Slovakia three times.

The highest trophy of SOSC in the field of Fair Play was awarded to the football legend Alexander Vencel Sr., who has influenced generations of young athletes through his personal example.

The CFP SOSC Trophy, which represents the second level of the award, was presented to Juraj Bencík, the most successful coach in the history of Slovak athletics, for his long-term performance in the spirit of fair play.

Among the laureates were outstanding athletes, coaches and educators: Samuel Horváth, Ján Fatľa, Petr Gramblička, Dagmar Lapšanská, Milan Kušej, Gabriela Vasiľková, Anna Kittanová and Vladimír Porubjak.
