Andreas Kolettis (GRE) AWARDED WITH EFPM DIPLOMA OF RECOGNITION 2024
The diploma was presented in a very warm and touching ceremony at the premises of Special Olympics Hellas, in the presence of members of the organisation, coaches, members of Mr Kolettis' team and parents. Mr. Kothellas, President of Special Olympics, Hellas, welcomed Mr Psilopoulos, Secretary General of EFPM, and expressed his deep gratitude for the award, as it reflects recognition of their work in this very sensitive part of the community. Mr Psilopoulos described the objectives that EFPM seeks to achieve through the annual Fair Play Awards and the reasons for honouring Mr Kolettis. Mr Kolettis presented the efforts made by all the coaches of Special Olympics Hellas on a completely voluntary basis and dedicated the award to all the people of Special Olympics Hellas and the ceremony ended on a very sentimental and friendly atmosphere.
Andreas Kolettis (GRE) has a degree in Sports Science from the University of Athens and he holds 10 Guinness World Records in 36 sports as a referee/judge for 'Most Referee Qualifications'. He has also been a volunteer Head Coach for Special Olympics Hellas in Powerlifting for 16 years and has recently been appointed as a Sports Advisor to the Powerlifting Committee of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia. Every day the team train with special needs and he tries to be a coach, a father, an advisor with his athletes. Also, Andreas has participated in 4 World Summer Special Olympics Games every 4 years and the Greek team is one of the best teams every 4 years. As you know Special Olympics has a programme 'Play Together Learn Together' and for the last 3 years he has been going to the traditional Greek schools to inform them about Special Olympics and during the 3 meetings he has organised 2 joint meetings with a special needs school to play together.
