Signing Ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding

On 13 April 2018, Miroslav Cerar, European Fair Play Movement Vice-president and Katarína Ráczová, EFPM Treasurer were invited to participate at the Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia Executive Committee meeting held in Samorin (SVK). The reason was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between EFPM and Special Olympics Europe Eurasia (SOEE). Special Olympics is a global organization, founded in 1968 by Ms Shriver Kennedy, which serves athletes with intellectual disabilities. The goal of Special Olympics is to reach out to the almost 200 million people in the world and offer them more than 30 individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities. Starting in July 2018, Special Olympics celebrates its 50 years anniversary – 50 years of creating a more inclusive, welcoming world for all of us. By signing the Memorandum of Understanding, the EFPM and SOEE are connected through the recognition of the importance of the ethical values and fair play principles of sports. Both organisations are committed to the promotion and education of the sports values and fair play principles and especially to the integration of all parts of the population.

We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation.
