The closing ceremony of the 8th CSIT World Sports Games in Loutraki, Greece, was held in the spirit of fair play.
For many years, the EFPM Fair Play Awards have been an integral part of the CSIT World Sports Games.
Founded in 1913 in Ghent, Belgium, CSIT is an international multi-sport organization. CSIT organizes major sporting events around the world, creates international networking platforms, engages in EU projects, and develops educational programs. CSIT is guided by a single principle: the spirit of sport — the spirit of unity.
CSIT founded the CSIT World Sports Games (WSG) and continues to develop the WSG into an international event.
The EFPM Fair Play Awards have been an integral part of the CSIT World Sports Games for many years.
The awards recognize outstanding achievements in sports fair play and above-average social actions and initiatives, including those that support and care for others. In this spirit, CSIT and the EFPM periodically announce a Fair Play Award competition during the CSIT World Sports Games. This year, the jury, composed of Anu Rajajarvi (FIN), CSIT Vice President, Veronique Fatier (FRA), CSIT Vice President, and Katarína Ráczová (SVK), EFPM Vice President, decided to award the following athletes in Loutraki:
The Team Fair Play Award goes to Denmark Tennis team 2. Their behaviour is very respectful to others. They talk and take other people very good in consideration, accept referee’s verdicts, treat them with much respect and do not argue of opponents’ judgement. Denmark team 2 in tennis consists of Mikkel Stilling, Anders Dorph, Martin Thiemann, Nikolas Vedel Petersen and Katerina Norup Hansen shows the spirit of CSIT and supports athletes in the spirit of Fair Play.
The first individual Fair Play Award went to Aira Ikonen, a gymnastics coach from Finland. She always has the energy to listen to others, think of new solutions, and come up with new ideas to bring joy to the participants. She remained patient and professional despite a few organizational issues. The second individual Fair Play Award went to Anja Bohème, an athlete from Germany. She was recognized for the fair play and sportsmanship of her entire team throughout the tournament. She led her team with fair play and actively promoted its important values, acting as their teacher. She had a positive influence on her team and all the others.
