The first European Sport Platform was held in Budapest, Hungary on 16-17 November 2018

The first European Sport Platform was held in Budapest, Hungary on 16-17 November 2018. The event organized under the patronage of Mr Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport was hosted by the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO) and the Hungarian Competitive Sport Federation. The participants were welcomed by Tünde Szabó, Secretary of State for Sports of the Ministry of Human Resources. The event was opened by Carlos Cardoso, ENGSO President. The EFPM was represented by its Treasurer Katarina Raczova.

The two topics of the event were The modern sports club and eSports meets sports clubs. High-level speakers,ENGSO members and different European stakeholders discussed the future of sports clubs, their responsibility and the role of volunteers. One of the topics was why sports clubs are important stakeholders in fighting manipulation in sport. The second main topic was eSports in European sport and how eSports intersect with modern sports clubs. Also discussed were the opportunities to gain more members and new talent groups, taking into account the magnitude and popularity of eSports. Altogether the two day event was poised to offer new perspectives on unique topics often overlooked in the larger context, but which are vital to understanding future trends and how to make sport more accessible and inclusive for all.
